Biography Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse (September, 14 1983 - August, 14, 2011) was born in Southgate (London) in the Jewish family. Her parents are taxi driver Michael Winehouse and pharmacist Jennis Winehouse - were interested in jazz music. Michael Winehouse was born in Benjamin Winehouse's family and Fanni Grandish, daughters of the emigrant from Russia Avraam Grandish's, of Jewish origin. At the age of 10 Amy with girlfriend Juliette Eshbi founded rap group 'Sweet'n'Sour', and in 12 years entered Sylvia Young's Drama school, but was expelled due to insufficient diligence and bad behavior.
At the age of 14 Amy wrote her first songs, was expelled from schools and for the first time tried drugs. A year later she applied for World Entertainment News Network and began to work in a jazz group. Her boy friend of that time, solo singer Tyler James helped her to sign the first contract - with EMI.
On October, 20, 2003 Amy released her debut album Frank. Except for two covers, all compositions had been written on her own or with some authors. The album was perfectly accepted by critics and received two Brit-nominations (British Female Solo Artist, British Urban Act), entered into the list of finalists Mercury Prize and became platinum. The second album Back to Black, unlike the first, comprised a few jazz motives: music of female pop groups of 50-60 years became inspiration for the singer. Back to Black was written in Britain on October, 30, 2006 and got to 1st place. The second single 'You Know I'm No Good' (with the bonus remix which was written with the assistance of rapper Killah), has reached 18th place.
Scandalous pictures with Amy often appear in tabloids (they evidence that Amy openly uses heavy drugs).
In November DVD I Told You I Was Trouble: Live in London was released (a concert in the London hall Shepherds Bush Empire plus a 50-minute documentary film). At the same time Amy Winehouse wrote melody for 'Valerie'. The single got to 2nd place in Britain, and was nominated on Brit Awards as 'the best British single'.
In the end of December Amy took second place in Richard Blackwell's 48th annual list 'The most ugly women', having conceded only to Victoria Backham. In the beginning of January she took new rehabilitation course under the special program: in the Caribbean country house of Canadian singer Bryan Adams. Amy was nominated in category Best New Artist. On February, 10, 2008 on Los Angeles 50 ceremony Grammy Awards Amy Winehouse became the winner in 5 categories (Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Song of the Year, Pop Vocal Album, Female Pop Vocal Performance).
Pit Doherti (they work over a composition 'You Hurt The Ones You Love'), Prins (they exchanged compliments with each other) and George Michael wish to sing together with Amy. Besides, there was information that the singer co-operates with Missi Elliot and Timbaland, but also, plans to travel to Jamaica for duet with Marly's son.
Winehouse died at the age of 27 on 23 July 2011, at her home in London; police have said that the cause of her death is "as yet unexplained".Winehouse's family and friends attended her funeral on 26 July 2011. She was later cremated at Golders Green Crematorium.
