Biography Lynn Rachel Redgrave
Lynn Rachel Redgrave was born in London on March, 8, 1943 in family of the actor Michael Redgrave and actress Rachel Kompson. Their other two children also became actors: elder sister Vanessa Redgrave and brother Korin Redgrave.
After studying at the London School of speech and drama in 1962 Lynn debuted on theatrical scene of Royal judicial theatre in the performance 'Dream in summer night'. Soon after that she performed in West-End in performance 'Tulip Flower' with Sely Johnson in leading role. After one season at the theatre Lynn was invited to work in troupe of Royal national theatre with such directors as Lawrence Olivier, Ex Dzeffirelli and Noel Kauard.
At the same time Redgrave debuted at cinema, she appeared in following films 'Tom Jones' (1963), 'Little girl with green eyes' (1964) and 'Suicide Case' (1966). Lynn was awarded 'Gold globe' for her leading role in the film 'Georgy Girl' as the best actress.
Afterwards Lynn Redgrave continued to perform actively in theatre, films and also on TV. She took part in such series as 'Island of imagination', 'Hotel' and 'She has written murder'. In 2001 Lynn Redgrave has been awarded title of the Officer of British Empire. She was also the citizen of two states - Great Britain and the USA.
In the United States Lynn Redgrave was known as the celebrity openly struggling with bulimia. Thanks to the persistence and cheerfulness Lynn managed to cope with illness and return to normal life.
Lynn Redgrave had been also struggling with breast cancer for many years. Unfortunately, doctors' efforts were vain. On May, 2nd, 2010 the actress died on 68th year of life. One month before her brother, actor Corin Redgrave had died of cancer.
Lynn was married to the actor and director John Clark who he had three children with - two daughters and a son. Their marriage lasted more than 30 years and ended in divorce in 2000.
