Russia to export electricity to China
The Russian Industry and Energy Ministry is expected to review RAO UES`s project on the electricity exports to China, Anatoly Chubais told journalists on Friday.
Furthermore, the shareholders of Russia`s energy giant will consider this matter at the meeting of the Board of Directors on October 26.
Chubais pointed out that RAO UES and Chinese government had agreed on the price and China had already launched preparations for electricity imports from Russia. He added that the holding`s management considered the republic to be especially attractive in light of the construction of the ESPO oil pipeline. It is expected that the project will be carried out in three stages, with electricity exports starting at 3.6-4.5bn kilowatt-hours in the first stage, eventually rising to 38.4bn by the third stage.
