Presse: the Austrian company wants to lead the "Turkish stream" in the European Union
Austrian oil and gas Concern OMV is developing a pipeline Project to supply gas from Russia to the European Union, bypassing Ukraine, informs referring to the sources familiar with the situation.
according to the publication, to promote the Project will be none other than the former head of the cartel Nabucco Reinhard of micek.
The project of the Nabucco gas pipeline was closed in 2013. In the European Union was obliged to supply gas from the Caspian sea via Turkey and the Balkans, bypassing Russia. Two years later it turned out that the Project was buried too early, according to the publication. However, the new Nabucco will make a big difference: in the European Union does not flow of Caspian and Russian gas.
The concern OMV until does not comment, and Gazprom has already released photos of the negotiations on 3 June, which depicted Alexey Miller, the future head of OMV Seele and Reinhard of micek.
The situation is in many respects curious, believes the printed edition. First, the relationship Between Russia and the EU have deteriorated because of the Ukrainian fall. Secondly, the EU has consistently argued for the retention of gas transit from Russia via Ukraine.
as Russia refuses to pump gas transit through Ukraine after 2019, for deliveries in the European Union is expected to build a gas pipeline " South stream ". Because of the position of the EU the Project was abandoned, and to replace him came " Turkish stream: Gazprom will build a gas pipeline to Turkey and create on the borderline with Greece gas hub. To get gas from Russia along the route in question, the countries of southern Europe will have to make the gas transport infrastructure on its territory.
This prospect caused annoyance in the European Union, but it now seems that the EU took himself in hand and began dialogues with Russia, writes that the press.
according to the newspaper, Gazprom is considering the possibility ramifications of the " Turkish stream in the Black sea towards Turkey and Bulgaria that would suit the OMV. In the first phase, according to expert analysis, the volume of gas supplies from Russia via a new route can reach about 30 billion cubic meters every year.
It may, however, upon reaching agreement on Iran's nuclear program, the EU will deliver on the new Nabucco Iranian gas. Tehran is ready to provide $10 billion for the construction of an export route.
