Bach: IOC tries to help the development of sport in the Crimea, as it can be
MOSCOW, Aug 3 - R-Sport. International Olympic Committee (IOC) is prepared to assist the development of sport in the Crimea as far as possible, said at a press conference on the results of the 128th IOC session in Kuala Lumpur, the organization's Director Thomas Bach.
Sevastopol and the Crimea, formerly part of the Ukraine, became the Russian regions after the 16 March 2014 referendum in which the overwhelming majority of voters voted for reunification with Russia.
"We work with all national committees, Crimea is not an independent country, which is seeking recognition. We work with our partners, with national Olympic committees, they provide us with their plans and projects, and We're trying to help them, as it may be, " said Bach.
The IOC session was held from 31 July to 3 August.
