Assad thanked Russia for helping Syria
The Syrian President arrived in the Russian Federation for conducting of a bilateral meeting with the head of the country Vladimir Putin. In the process of negotiations, Bashar al-Assad thanked the Russian army for help in preserving the unity and independence of Syria.
In Moscow on 20 September during the visit of Bashar al-Assad held talks with Vladimir Putin. Meeting in the Kremlin took place in close and expanded composition with the participation of the followers of the Supreme leadership of the Russian Federation. During the negotiations, Assad thanked Putin and all Russian citizens for supporting government forces in the fight against grouping "Islamic state".
"For now, I have to Express my huge appreciation to all the management of the Russian Federation and the Russian people for the assistance they provide to Syria. Thank you for the fact that they stand for the unity of Syria and for its autonomy. Particularly, one should pay attention to the fact that all this is done in the scope of international law", - quotes the Bashar al-Assad to the website of the Kremlin. Besides all this, the Syrian President said that the direct intervention of Putin helped stop the spread of terrorism in the region.
"And I have to say that the political steps taken by Russia from the beginning of the crisis, did not allow the events in Syria to develop in a more tragic scenario. Terrorism, which is currently spread in the region, if not for Your actions and Your decisions, would take a much larger size and would encompass an even greater area", - said Bashar al-Assad.
The Syrian President said that the airstrikes should be considered first as a necessity, which is impossible without a political settlement of the incident.
Besides, Vladimir Putin thanked his colleague for the visit and noted the success of government troops in the fight against ISIS. "The Syrian people are virtually alone opposed, fighting international terrorism for the past couple of years, has serious costs, but recently has been making major positive results in this struggle", - said the President of Russia.
