South African students staged a protest because of his hair
South Africans react on social media after protests over the alleged racist remarks about hair in a prestigious high school. Other schools in the country I see such demonstrations. It all started with a protest by a group of young black girls from Pretoria High.
Video posted to Instagram has gone viral, it shows as 13-year-old Zuleikha Patel and her classmates in a tense standoff with private security guards. The students shouted, waving his hands in the air: "Take all of us, they're going to arrest us."
Students say they acted after teachers told them that their hair is "exotic" and that they need to put in the standard.
"Question about my hair it is a moment that has followed me all my life, even in primary school I was told that my hair isn't natural, it's exotic, and then followed me into high school "Patel told CNN.
In a recent statement, the Department of education informed that after school visit of the Minister of education of the province, it was agreed that a "Code of conduct schools should be revised and the regulation on work with hairstyles should be suspended at the same time."
