Clinton spoke about the shooting in a nightclub
Loud in its first comments on the case of terrorist attack in Orlando, Hillary Clinton urged Americans to unite against terrorism, as it was after the September 11 attacks. "Americans of all backgrounds rallied together with a sense of common purpose," she said, speaking in Cleveland.
Clinton arrived in Cleveland on Monday, expecting to boost its General election campaign, but, after the shooting at a nightclub in Orlando on Sunday evening, where 50 people were killed and hundreds were injured, her assistants went to rewrite his speech under the incident situation.
Eight hundred of her supporters were sitting or milling in an industrial plant in Cleveland. Played the usual bland music that went silent as soon as Clinton came on the scene in the background of American flags.
"Killing innocent people plagued our hearts," Clinton said. "Tears and insecurity lead us to anger. Now we need to react strongly ... the Terrorist Orlando may be dead, but the virus that poisoned his mind remains alive, and we must kill to protect his family and preserve the values of our country".
Top priority, Clinton will "detect and suppress" the lone wolves. "I want to create a team together with our government and private sector and communities to address this pressing issue," she said, "I want to make sure that our law enforcement professionals and intelligence uses all resources for execution of the work."
Clinton on Monday morning called for a ban of firearms. She noted that the suspected murderer in Orlando used the same style of weapons, and the attackers in the San Bernardino and the shooter at the elementary school Sandy Hook.
Finally, Clinton gave an optimistic forecast for the country "When I look at the American people, I see a strong nation. We stand together because together we are stronger."
