Russian female skiers win gold, silver in Vancouver Paralympics
Russian female athletes won a gold and a silver medal in two 15-km cross-country races during the 2010 Paralympics in Canada on Tuesday.
Anna Burmistrova took the gold in Women`s 15 km Free, Standing. Iuliia Batenkova of Ukraine came second, while Katarzyna Rogowiec of Poland was third.
Another Russian athlete, Liubov Vasilyeva came second in Women`s 15 km Free, Visually Impaired. She finished 3.5 minutes behind the winner, Verena Bentele of Germany. Yadviha Skorabahataya of Belarus took the bronze.
With a total of 15 medals, including six gold and six silver, Russia has a solid lead in the unofficial medal count. Its closest rival, Ukraine, has seven medals, including two gold.
