Former US Ambassador to Turkey spoke about the murder of Charles
The next day after the murder of Andrew Charles, the former U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Christopher hill said that the fatal incident could be a symptom of a disease that has spread across the country.
"I think this murder is actually talking about some really strong undercurrents that are happening now, and we'll have to see how it will affect us," said hill, who served as U.S. Ambassador in Iraq in 2009 and 2010.
In the aftermath of a murder, Turkey accused the opposition cleric Fethullah Gulen and tried to blame the United States for the fact that gц?len is still alive. Press Secretary of the state Department of the USA John Kirby called it "absolutely ridiculous."
Noting that "absolutely ridiculous" as a rule, not a diplomatic term," said hill. "I think it's clear that something is happening in Turkey, especially with the regime of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after a coup attempt.
Russian Ambassador Charles was killed in an art gallery in Ankara, he was killed by the gunman, who shouted "don't forget Aleppo!"
