Biography Ducagne Charles (Du Cange Charles)
(1610-1688) Born in Amiens on Dec. 18, 1610. He was educated at the Jesuit college in Amiens, and then in the University of Orleans. Practice law in Amiens. He studied medieval history and the history of empires, the Greeks and Romans. Published works of Byzantine historians and wrote a history of Byzantium, with explanatory commentary (Historia byzantina duplici commentario illustrata, 1680). Among his works - Dictionary of Medieval Latin and the barbarian (Glossarium ad scriptores mediae et infimae latinitatis, 1678) and Dictionary of medieval and barbaric Greek (Glossarium ad scriptores mediae et infimae graecitatis, 1688). Ducagne died in Paris on October 23, 1688.
