Rufus Wainwright stopped taking illegal drug
The star is open about his drug use, explaining he has dabbled with most illegal substances and found the experience enjoyable. Methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth, is known to ravage the appearance of users, which is why Rufus eventually stopped taking it.
"My love of maple syrup is the most Canadian thing about me. I`ve been known to knock back a can over a couple days: a swig here, a swig there, and next thing you know it`s gone. It`s a habit I have to stave off. I don`t want to lose all my teeth. I stopped doing crystal meth-I don`t want to look like an addict," he said in an interview with Details magazine. "There`s nothing enjoyable about it. It gets its hooks in you. I`ve done every kind of drug, and each one has something laudable about it, except meth."
On a lighter note, the openly-gay star told the publication he is obsessed with the "boobs and butts" in Keeping Up With the Kardashians. He explained he never used to watch reality television and didn`t understand why anyone found it enjoyable. He eventually decided to give it a try, and now can`t get enough of the show, which follows the lives of sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian and their family. "I am a little slower in my percolations. I like examining what`s come before," he explained. "But that said, I`m addicted to Real Housewives of the Orange County and Keeping Up With the Kardashians. I get sideswiped by the boobs, the hair, the butts, the jewels, the cars, the bad boys."
Rufus explained it isn`t just TV which excites him, he also loves modern music. He is a particular fan of rapper 50 Cent, and is convinced he has a chance with him. 50 has been forced to apologise for making homophobic remarks in the past - he termed a series of shows involving Lady Gaga and Kanye West "the gay tour" - but Rufus says that doesn?t necessarily mean he isn?t attracted to men.
"That cute little voice of his. It`s OK, 50 Cent. Feel free to call me anytime," Rufus laughed in an interview with Details magazine. "My boyfriend and I are experts. You can come over for dinner. And maybe dessert."
