Daimler to sell its production in Russia through KAMAZ
German auto concern Daimler AG is planning to launch in September-October sales of its production in Russia through the Russian dealers chain KAMAZ, 11% of which Daimler holds, KAMAZ director for corporate finances Yelena Milinova said on Monday.
Sources in the Russian company said that KAMAZ and Daimler are currently holding talks on sales organization.
Daimler is a primary shareholder of the Japanese Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus. It also holds 40% of the British McLaren Group, some 20% of the U.S. Chrysler Holding LLC and some other stakes.
KAMAZ is the world`s 11th largest truck maker and the eighth largest producer of diesel engines globally. The company has 96 plants in Russia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, and Ethiopia.
KAMAZ produces more than 30 models of trucks, as well as trailers, buses, tractors and spare parts. It also manufactures engines, power units, and components. The company`s heavy-duty trucks have won the Paris-Dakar rally on many occasions.
