Céline Dion is pregnant with twins
The 42-year-old singer and her husband René Angelil, 68, have confirmed they are expecting two babies early next year. The twins were conceived during Céline`s sixth in-vitro fertilisation attempt and after the singer turned to acupuncture to improve her chances of getting pregnant, her publicist Kim Jakwerth revealed.
The couple found out about the pregnancy just sixth months after Céline suffered a miscarriage.
"We`re ecstatic," René told People magazine. "Celine is just hoping for a healthy pregnancy. She was hoping for one baby and the news that we are having two is a double blessing!"
Céline is 14 weeks along and will find out the gender of the twins next month.
Céline and René have one son, nine-year-old René-Charles together. The star is currently working on new albums in both English and French and is due to return to Las Vegas next year for a three-year residency at the Colosseum and Caesar`s Palace.
Céline and René were devastated when she lost a baby last November. The couple immediately announced their plans to try for another child, saying they would keep trying for the sake of their son René-Charles.
"We are going back to the same people, the same doctor in New York," Céline said at the time. "When we announced to Rene-Charles that we were pregnant and then it didn`t work out, he said, `Wasn`t it supposed to be 100 percent sure?`
"I said, `It was 100 percent, but it`s nature and it didn`t work out.` And he was looking at me and he said, `Are you going to try again?` I said, `Yeah, we are going to try again.` He knows exactly what we are doing, so he`s great."
