The Argentinean soccerteam have vowed to reuniteOasis if they win the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Player Lionel Messi hasbeen introduced to the British rock band by his teammate Carlos Tevez, who plays for Manchester City, the club supported by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher.
Oasis split last year after Noel and Liam fell out while on tour. They have since vowed not to reunite, with Liam even rebranding the group Beady Eye. Despite this, Lionel is convinced he will be able to persuade them to work together again.
"Ever since he has been playing in Manchester, Carlitos has told me how great Oasis was. I kept promising I would listen to them, but I never got round to it," Lionel explained to British newspaper The Sun.
"On the plane on the way to the World Cup Carlitos made me listen to their first two albums. I have to say I wasn`t expecting much but it is some of the best material I have ever heard. They are absolutely amazing. I asked Carlitos if we could go and see them in Manchester or London in concert, but he told me they have split up.
"We have agreed that if we win the World Cup we want to fly them over to Argentina for our celebration party. We just need them to name their price."
Lionel`s favourite Oasis songs are Supersonic and Live Forever. He explained he has been spending every spare minute listening to their back catalogue, and has even got the rest of the team interested.
The 22-year-old was so impressed he even searched for the group on video-sharing website YouTube, and has been relaxing by watching some of their old concerts.
