Jessica Alba was bullied for having asthma
Jessica Alba was teased at school because the machine she used to treat her asthma was so loud.
The actress has suffered from the illness, which affects breathing, since she was a child. Although she refused to let it impair her quality of life, the 29-year-old admits it did mean she was treated different by her schoolmates.
"I would have asthma attacks, and I would have a breathing machine that was really loud. And when I would play sports, I would be on the sidelines with my breathing machine," she said. "It wouldn`t deter me from playing sports, but I got made fun of."
Jessica has previously admitted struggling to make friends because of her home life. She moved around a lot due to her father`s job, which meant she found putting down roots hard.
The star has two-year-old daughter Honor with her husband Cash Warren, and her experiences as a child have made her more determined to raise Honor to be accepting.
"I was picked on a lot. I was different. My dad was in the military, so we moved a lot, and I was always the new kid. I had a bunch of illnesses, so I would have to take off from school for weeks at a time to be in hospital. So the kids just thought I was weird," she told American magazine Genlux.
"Treat others how you want to be treated- with the understanding that everyone is a human being trying to do the best they can."
