Alec Baldwin to quit 30 Rock
Alec Baldwin is planning to quit 30 Rock when his contract expires in 2012.
The 52-year-old actor has played egocentric network executive Jack Donaghy on the hit US show since it started in 2006. He has won a host of awards for his performance in the series, including two Emmys and four Screen Actors Guild prizes, but wants to give it all up so he can live a more "normal" life.
Alec made the announcement that he is not planning to renew his contract on the show when the current agreement ends in two years during a TV interview on CNN yesterday.
"As much as I like acting, I know that I would love to have a different life, a private life," he explained. "I think doing this now for a living has become really hard. It`s really hard.
"I would rather go do other things and have whatever amount of time I have left in my life, have more of a normal life... I want to find out if it`s possible. How close can I get."
30 Rocks follows the behind-the-scenes antics of a fictional sketch comedy show. It also stars Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski.
