In the capital of Russia died Marshal of the Soviet Union Dmitry Yazov, said the Ministry of defence.
The funeral will take place on 28 February at the Federal military memorial cemetery in Mytishchi.
Yazov was the last of the generals who was awarded the title of Marshal of the Soviet Union. For feats during the great Patriotic war was awarded the order of the red Star.

Dmitry Timofeyevich Yazov was born on 8 November 1924 in the village Azovo Omsk region in a peasant family. Field completion in 1942, the military school left the service. From July 1942 to may 1945 he commanded a platoon on the Volkhov and Leningrad fronts.
After the war he continued his military career, he rose from company commander to commander of the army. In the 1970-ies became the head of the Main personnel Department of the defense Ministry, then became the 1st Deputy commander of the far Eastern military district.
From January 1979 Yazov held the position of commander of the Central group of forces, From February 1979 - the Commissioner of the government of the USSR to deal with matters of stay of Soviet troops in Czechoslovakia.

From January to may 1987, Yazov was Deputy Minister of defence for personnel, chief of personnel of the Ministry of defense of the USSR. After headed the Ministry.
