Alexandra Burke Offers Sick Mum A Kidney
Singer Alexandra Burke has offered to give her sick mother one of her kidneys.
Melissa Bell is currently on the transplant list for a new organ, but refused her daughter`s offer as it could affect her ability to have children of her own.
Ms Bell, who sang with 1980s chart toppers Soul II Soul, told Five News: "My priority is my kids even before my own life.
"If there`s something that will endanger my children and put them at risk I`m not going to let that happen.
"Even if it does mean I have to surrender my life thats what a mother does, we make sacrifices for our kids."
Ms Bell added: "I was not prepared to put Alex at risk by allowing her to give her the kidney.
"She so wanted to do it but I couldn`t let that happen."
Another of her four children, David, 23, has reportedly offered his kidney as well and tests are being carried out to see if it is suitable.
Burke won X Factor in 2008 and her debut single Hallelujah became the fastest-selling download single across the whole of Europe.
