Home for blind collapses in Tbilisi
A home for blind collapsed in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi on Sunday, families who lived in it are still awaiting for aid from the government, RIA Novosti correspondent reported from the scene.
The two-story building where 11 families had been living for decades suddenly collapsed at the middle of the day. One of the residents was killed and his grand-daughter was taken to the hospital.
Soon after the incident Tbilisi Mayor Georgi Ugulava said that the local administration had already found lodging for some families and others would be accommodated until the end of the day.
"We are still remaining outdoors. We have not been accommodated yet. It is not summer, it`s cold and we do not know what will happen to us," one of the residents of the collapsed home said.
The majority of the residents were not at home when the building collapsed, the woman added.
She said that the building was in critical condition. "We have submitted claims to various organizations, but nobody paid attention and what had finally happened," she said.
Representatives of Georgia`s emergencies services have left t he scene saying debris removal would be resumed on Monday.
