Cher still accidentally calls her son Chaz "her"
The `Believe` singer still gets confused about what to call Chaz - who was formerly a girl named Chastity who legally changed her name and gender in May one year after undergoing a sex change procedure - and admits she has to concentrate when she talks to Chaz.
Despite her confusion, Cher has the utmost respect for the way her child has coped with her gender problems.
The 64-year-old star told Vanity Fair magazine: "If I woke up tomorrow in a guy`s body, I would just kick and scream and cry and f***ing rob a bank, because I cannot see myself as anything but who I am - a girl. I would not take it as well as Chaz has. I couldn`t imagine it.
"She`s a very smart girl - boy! This is where I get into trouble. My pronouns are f***ed. I still don`t remember to call her `him`."
Cher accepts she has had a difficult relationship with 41-year-old Chaz - her child with her late ex-husband Sonny Bono - because of her enormous fame but insists they get on well now.
The singer-and-actress - who also has a 34-year-old son Elijah Blue Allman from her marriage to rock star Gregg Allman - said: "I think Chaz is pretty much finished with it, and I think Elijah has a little longer to go, but they both really love me a lot. But it`s hard.
"One time, when Chaz was little, we were on a field trip, and she said, `I`m so p***ed off mom. You can never not be Cher - we can never just do something.`
"So your kids pay. I did the best I could do, and yet it was definitely lacking."
