American adventurer explores Russia
Grammy nominated American musician John Forté, who collaborated with the multi-platinum hip hop band The Fugees, will embark on a nine week journey across Russia.
Dubbed "From Brooklyn to Russia With Love!", the tour has been described as a "multimedia venture" that will chronicle Forté?s collaborations with local Russian artists of various genres.
The challenge is the "creation of original musical compositions - sonically, photographically and cinematically - inspired by his experiences with Russia and its culture."
Forté will perform not only in the glamorous Russian capital Moscow and its rival St. Petersburg, but also in chilly Siberia.
The Brooklyn native is set to spend his time recording and performing with some of Russia`s greatest talents - from classical orchestras to a few of Russia`s most successful singers/songwriters.
The rapper was once one of the most promising U.S. stars before he was charged with drug possession and sentenced to 14 years in prison. Later Forté became one of eleven sentences commuted by President Bush during his eight years in office.
When released from Fort Dix in 2008, Forté went back to recoding music and working on new albums, but also tried his hand at writing. His memoir became the subject of a documentary about his life.
