Tom Cruise gave Katie Holmes a sewing machine
The 32-year-old actress revealed she loves nothing more than spending time with the couple`s four-year-old daughter Suri sewing and making items for the home and her husband encouraged their hobby with the domestic gift.
She said: "My mum grew up making curtains and pillows and everything, and it made our home very warm, so I like to do things like that with my daughter. My husband got me a sewing machine for my birthday [December 18]."
Katie - who married the `Mission: Impossible` star in 2006 and recently released the Holmes & Yang clothing line with her stylist Jeanne Yang - also confessed that she loves her crafts so much she takes them away with her when she travels with Suri.
She told Women`s Wear Daily: "Bring lots of crayons, glue, good paper and you can turn any room into a very warm, familial place."
The `Kennedys` star recently told of how her and Jeanne`s fashion range is aimed at "working mums".
She said: "Sometimes when life gets really busy you don`t want to have to think about what it is you`re going to wear and you just want to have certain pieces that you know you can just depend on - what are those pieces? - and so that was kind of our challenge.
"Both of us are working mums, so we`re pretty busy, and, having a line, being mums and then having our careers is quite a lot."
