Sharapova to battle for second Wimbledon crown
Former World No.1 Maria Sharapova has made it into the Wimbledon final after sealing a straight-sets win over Sabine Lisicki of Germany.
ґUnseeded Lisicki took a 3-0 lead in the opening set, but was powerless against Sharapova`s comeback as the Russian broke her rival to take the set 6-4.
In second set fifth-seeded Maria wasted no time in taking two break points to grab a 4-1 lead and wrap up a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
"She played really well and I did quite the opposite," Sharapova told Associated Press. "It was tough. I just had to stay focused. I got back on track and just remained really focused throughout the rest of the match."
Maria will now have a chance to grab her second title at Wimbledon, where she triumphed in 2004.
The Russian`s opponent in the final will be Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic, who outplayed Belarusian Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 in the other semi-final.
