US dancer leaps into Russian ballet
Russia`s landmark Bolshoi Theater is to turn into a historic "home away from home" for one of America`s brightest talents, the star of the American Ballet Theater, David Hallberg.
ґThe 29-year-old principal dancer will thus become the first American permanently to join Russia`s "holy of holies" - the legendary Bolshoi.
"Personally, I feel a sense of responsibility as an American," Hallberg told the New York Times. "I will be bringing something different to the company, but I will also be respecting their traditions as well," the dancer promised.
Hallberg is set to appear in Giselle, Sleeping Beauty and Don Quixote, while he will continue to occasionally perform with ABT.
Among his partners will be Natalia Osipova, with whom Hallberg already danced at the Bolshoi last year, as well as prima Svetlana Zakharova.
