Russian films go to Bollywood
Five Russian movies will be representing the country at the Mumbai Fim Festival in India. The festival`s 13th edition will feature around 200 films from some 30 countries.
Viktor Ginzburg`s Generation P will be fighting for the main prize of the film marathon. Leonid Fomin`s First Time For Everything, Pechorin by Roman Khrushchev, Valeria Guy Germanika`s Everybody Dies But Me, which earned a special mention at Cannes in 2008, and the recent winner of Venice`s Golden Lion, Aleksandr Sokurov`s Faust, will be screened within other sections of the program.
The hometown of the famed Bollywood pictures will, of course, showcase some new home-grown offerings. Annually, the Mumbai film industry produces about 800 films in India`s various languages, making it far more prolific than its American namesake.
The Festival will take over three major Mumbai Cinemas and will run through to October 20. The winner of the festival`s main prize will receive an award of $200,000.
