Kate Beckinsale is an embarrassing mum
The `Contraband` actress has a 13-year-old daughter Lily with former partner Michael Sheen and although she would like to believe she is "hip", Kate admits the youngster now finds her uncool since becoming a teenager.
She said: "It seems she`s grown up overnight. Going to a school with bigger older girls, it`s all accelerated very quickly and she`s become a teenager. So all of a sudden I became a whole lot more embarrassing than I`d ever been in the past. But that`s what daughters do isn`t it."
Kate is learning to cope with raising a teenager by giving Lily "space" when she needs it even though she finds it difficult to back off.
She added in an interview with Britain`s HELLO! magazine : "I do have a tendency to be that sort of awful mother who thinks she`s really hip and completely relevant in my daughter`s life. So right now I just have to give Lily her space and try very hard to realise that, however much I would like to be, as far as she`s concerned, I am really not cool."
