Bird flu interferes with struggle against HIV
Struggle against spreading of bird flu can divert efforts and funds from attempts to find rescue from more dangerous illness - HIV.
This opinion was expressed by the head of special UNO program Peter Piot. By his words, in case of mass "bird flu" epidemic current acting program of supplying Earth population with necessary amount of medicine for HIV therapy.
At present moment anti-retrovirus medicine gets only 1 million of people from 6.5 millions who need it.
"Epidemic of bird flu lasts for several years, while HIV epidemic - tens of year. Bird flu disease killed more than 60 people while Aids - thousands of people", - noted Piot.
