Parrot let down Abramovich
Smart yacht of Chukotka governor Roman Abramovich may not be let in a port of New Zealand because of African grey parrot which lives on board.
New Zealand government is afraid of the parrot might be carrier of some diseases including bird flu.
According to government service of bio-security representative there are no veterinary standards in New Zealand that regulate importation and removal of parrots.
According to New Zealand Herald country?s officials consider there are few ways of a problem solving. Particularly they may demand of leaving $1 m as a deposit or placing the parrot in quarantine.
Now Abramovich?s yacht is in Tonga. Its crew applied to New Zealand officials for permit to moor within next three weeks. There is no Chukotka governor on board. It is unknown whether he will join the crew in New Zealand.
African grey parrot is called "ideal combination of intellect and beauty", and "Cadillac among parrots". It is able to reproduce many sounds including human speech.
