Lithuanian diplomat: Russia is a Danger for the whole Europe
Vice-Minister of foreign Affairs of Lithuania Vytautas Leskevicius held in Vienna session of the Department of Ministers of the Council of Europe tried to convince the organization to " resist the political, economic and military aggression of Russia against Ukraine ", said news Agency today, on 7 may, the Lithuanian foreign Ministry.
" Perfect Russia's occupation of the Crimea and the illegal annexation, ongoing attempts to destabilize the situation in the Eastern parts of Ukraine, permanent danger to this country and other neighbors is significant challenges not only for Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, but also for the organization, for the entire continent of Europe, as for the space of human rights, democracy and the rule of law. Russia violated international law, the principles of the Charter of the Council of Europe and European values ", - noticed the Vice-Minister.
Leskevicius tried to convince the Russian Federation to take real action on the implementation of the Geneva agreement of April 17, and introduced the initiative to the Council of Europe to continue to provide expert assistance held in Ukraine reforms, the most in preparation for the presidential elections to be held on may 25.
During the session the Cabinet of Ministers welcomed the measures taken by the institutions and countries of the Council of Europe, intended to improve the effectiveness of the implementation of the European agreement on human rights. The Secretary General of the organization requested to prepare realistic proposals as to provide a more efficient cooperation of the countries of the Council of Europe and its institutions.
