Doctor guilty in death of 6 infants sentenced to 2 years
This Friday court of Sverdlovsky oblast pronounced the sentence on case about 6 infants` death at maternity hospital in Krasnoturinsk town.
The main accused, ex-head of maternity hospital Marat Salakhov, sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment in colonial settlement. He was taken into custody in court. His 3 colleagues - doctors of maternity home Galina Mitrophanova, Elena Petrova and Lubov Tregubova - are also returned guilty in criminal negligence and breaking of sanitary rules. Court set them suspended sentence on term from 1.5 to 2 years, specified press-service of Sverdlovsky regional court.
Meanwhile, prosecutor demanded 3-5 years of imprisonment for accused.
6 new-born babies died in maternity house of Krasnoturinsk town in January of 20o4. The cause of death was hospital-acquired infection. Tens of infants were hospitalized to Sverdlovsky regional hospital. Bacteria, initiated the illness, were discovered on medical equipment of maternity house and hands of medical workers.
