Vitaly Kaloev to serve sentence in Russia
Vitaly Kaloev, sentenced in Switzerland for murder of SkyGuide company air communicator, agreed to serve punishment in Russia.
"Recently official of Embassy in Switzerland met with Kaloev, and the latter made official announcement that he agrees on extradition to Russia", - informed director of Russian international law and cooperation department of Justice Ministry Saak Karapetyan.
"Therefore, after verdict comes into force we will demand extradition of Kaloev to Russia on base of mutual agreement", - noted representative of Department of Justice.
49-year old architect from North Osetia Vitaly Kaloev lost wife and 2 children in air catastrophe on July 2, 2002. 36-year old Dane Nielsen was on duty in air navigation company SkyGuide that night. It is considered that his mistake has lead to collision of Russian "Bashkirian airlines" passenger liner Tu-154 with freight Boeing-757. 69 Russians, the majority of them were kids flying to Spain on vacation, died in catastrophe. Kaloev was arrested on February 25, 2004 in Cloten town, where Nielson was killed the day before. Investigation preferred version of revenge murder.
On October 26, 2005 court of justice sentenced Kaloev to 8 years of imprisonment for premeditated murder of Peter Nielson.
