Georgia blocks Russian banks accounts
Russian commercial banks accounts will be blocked at the beginning of 2006 in Georgia, informed President of National Bank of Georgia Roman Gotsiridze. "All Russian banks, operating on the territory of Abkhazia, will be declared, so to say, non grata, their accounts will be blocked", noted Gotsiridze. According to him, Russian banks will face "huge problems". He also informed, that Tbilisi will press for closing Russian banks, operating in Abkhazia, in other countries too. On Georgian authorities opinion, Russian banks do money-washing in the unrecognized republic and, possible, have something to do with terrorism financing. Earlier Gotsiridze has already warned the chiefs of Central Bank of Russia about it several times.
