Adygei Slavs request unification of republic with Krasnodarsky krai
Collection of signatures for unification of the republic with Krasnadarsky krai has started in Adygei. Union of Adygei Slavs decided to appeal to president Putin with this initiative during VI congress, which took place on December 17-18 in Maikop.
In opinion of delegates, integration will equalize rights of natives and the rest of citizens, provide economic growth in the republic and reduce corruption, monopolist influence on economics from national elite.
By words of Union leader Nina Konovalova, "we don`t care if Adygei enters the krai as autonomous oblast or as separate districts".
By data on 1998-2004 population of Slavs in Adygei reduced by 27 thousands people. This is caused by unequal opportunities to get education, employment or to develop business.
According to federal constitutional law "About entering Russian Federation and formation of new subject of Russian Federation", executive and legislative authorities of interested regions must support the initiative, after that suggestion can be approved by Russian president.
From their side, representatives of Adygei legislative authority consider integration groundless but promised to examine economic aspects of possible union.
