24 new road signs to be introduced in Russia from January 1
From January 1, 2006, 24 new road signs and 18 improved sorts of already existing ones will be introduced in Russia.
This was informed by the head of scientific-research administration of Traffic Safety Center Vladimir Tarasenkov.
"From January 1 new standards of road signs, traffic lights, highway striping and road fences will come into force. A state resolution about introduction of appropriate amendments to current Rules of the Road has already been approved", - said Tarasenkov.
By his words, Federal agency of technical regulation and metrology has made a decision about introduction of new standards last year.
He noted that new service signs, informative, prescriptive, prohibitive and cautionary signs will appear on the road.
"New signs will more correspond to the reality. For example, at present moment signs, saying "Rough road", stand near kindergartens, schools, where artificial surface roughness are placed for speed reduction. Starting from new year the signs at such places will say "Artificial roughness", - he noted.
