Gerhard Schroeder saved Ukraine from freezing
Ex-chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder participated in settlement of Russian-Ukrainian gas conflict.
By information of German edition Der Spiegel, ex-chancellor persuaded Russian president Vladimir Putin and president of "Gazprom" Aleksey Miller to lessen claims to Kiev.
Schroeder`s office doesn`t comment this information. But sources in Social-democratic party of Germany repeatedly appealed to Schroeder with request to influence the position of Kremlin. As a result of unofficial negotiations Schroeder convinced Putin of compromise with Ukrainian side.
As a reminder, ex-chancellor should take the chair of North European Gas Pipeline Company (NEGPC). NEGPC is a mutual enterprise of "Gazprom" and German BASF and E.ON, where "Gazprom" owns 51% of stocks. Company is in charge of sea part of North-European pipeline`s construction.
