Biography Gerhard Shredder
Gerhard Schroeder was born April 7, 1944 in Mossenburge (Lower Saxony) in a poor Protestant (evangelical) family. His father, who died in Romania during the Second World War, did not know. Gerhard, and four children brought up by his mother, who worked as a cleaner.
He was forced to quit school at age 14, worked as an assistant to the seller. Later Shredder classes in the specialty "Jurisprudence" at Gottingen University, graduating in 1976.
At an early stage of career Shredder is an activist Social Democratic Party (SPD). He was elected head of the "Young Socialists" - the youth organization of SPD in 1978. First elected to the Bundestag in 1980.
Shredder originally included in the extreme left wing of the SPD, which is understandable features of his biography, but gradually, throughout his career, is shifted to the political center. Apparently, sympathetic to the business community, he imbued in the early 1990s, when he became a member of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG.

In April 1998, SPD Shredder nominated candidate of the Federal Chancellor. In September, the "red-green coalition wins the elections and on October 27 elect him Chancellor of Germany. April 12, 1999 Shredder elected national chairman of SPD.
Shredder married 3 years at the fourth wife - a journalist Doris Kepf, which is 18 years younger. Has a daughter from a previous marriage. Third wife Schroeder - Hiltrud Schroeder - a well-known public figure, the head of Lower Saxony Fund "Children of Chernobyl".
