Moscow court starts hearing of Paul Khlebnikov murder case
Moscow city court has started the hearings on the case of the editor in chief of Russian version of the magazine "Forbs", Paul Khlebnikov murder.
The Jury of 12 main and six reserve jurors tries the case privately.
In the course of the first sitting the public prosecutor is to perform the clearance of the case essence and to suggest the order of evidence studies, noted Anna Usacheva, the press-secretary of Moscow city court. Besides, the advocacy also is to state their position, and the presiding judge is to put a question if the accused admit their guilt, she added.
It is not known how much time the sentencing decision reading is to take, noted the attorney Larisa Maslennikova, performing on behalf of Khlebnikov`s relatives. "The sentencing decision constitutes about 600 leaves. However the prosecutor has the right to read only the formula of sentence. Should it take a day or not, we cannot suppose ", said the attorney.
According to her words, the public prosecutor is to question 150 witnesses, the defense id called 10 witnesses. To add to this, Maslennikova noted that her principal hopes and accounts on disinterestedness and fairness of Russian public justice. "A lot depend on how the evidences will be presented", underlined she.
