Virologists protected Muscovites from infected bird meat
Bird meat in Moscow markets is absolutely safe and there is no possibility of infected by "bird flu" chicken-meat selling.
This was announced by famous virologist, professor of Virus Medication Institute Yuri Genden.
"It is safe to buy chicken or meat of other birds in Moscow. But we recommend not to eat uncooked eggs", - said Genden.
He emphasized that "there is no way infected by H5N1 virus bird-meat can get to the capital". "A strict sanitarian control is introduced in the capital. Birds are not exported from regions, where outbursts of epizootic were registered. All bird-meat is provided by near-Moscow farms", - he noted.
Talking about possible reasons of people, who contacted with poultry, infection by H5N1 virus, scientists supposed that the cause lies in genetics: "Probably limited number of people have genetic defect, which allows penetration of virus through cell membrane. It also can explain the fact that virus doesn`t spread from human to human - such genetic deviations are extremely rare".
By data of World Health Organization 200 people fell sick of "bird flu" worldwide and only 10 people died during last 8 years. At the same time, from 200 thousands to half a million people die from ordinary flu annually. In this connection virologist reminded about approaching to Russia seasonal epidemic of flu, which has already started in France and USA.
