Tatyana Navka and Roman Kostomarov became 3-times European champions
Russian team has won third golden medal at European figure skating championship in Lyon.
For the third time in career Tatyana Navka and Roman Kostomarov became European champions in dances on ice. They were ahead of Ukrainian pair Elena Grushina and Ruslan Goncharov and Lithuanian duet Margarita Drobyazko and Povilas Vanagas.
As a reminder, Russian figure-skaters Tatyana Totmyanina and Maxim Marinin have won competition of sport pairs, and Irina Slutskaya became the strongest female figure-skater. Moreover, Maria Petrova and Aleksey Tikhonov won bronze and Elena Sokolova became vice-champion of Europe. The struggle for European title among men continues. Russian Evgeny Plushenko leads after short program.
Navka and Kostomarov performed free dance "Carmen" and got final result of 202.32 points. But after performance Tatyana Navka got to hospital because she seriously cut hand by figure skates at the end of program.
It should be mentioned that Lyon audience didn`t accept Russian victory warmly.
"I am glad competitions are over. We deserved the victory and I don`t care about cool welcome of fans, - announced Roman Kostomarov. - It was a hard championship for us. We started from third place in obligatory dances but managed to win. Now we still have time to improve our programs before Olympiad in Turin".
French audience gave Margarita Drobyazko and Povilas Vanagas a standing ovation. Lithuanian duet showed program "Phantom of the Opera".
