"Gasprom" buys gas for Ukraine from Karimov
Uzbekistan is to supply 9 billion cubic meters of gas to Russia at the price of $60/a thousand cubic meters. Such an agreement has been reached in the course of visit of Aleksei Miller, "Gasprom" chairman of the Board of Directors, to Tashkent where he had talks with Uzbek President Islam Karimov.
As is known, according to agreements between "Gasprom" and Ukrainian company "Naftogas of Ukraine" Uzbek gas is to be sold to Kiev at the price of $95/a thousand cubic meters via Swiss trader "Rosukrenergo". Less charges of this volume of gas transportation by the territory of Kazakhstan and Russia, net profit of the intermediary, is to constitute about $20 from every thousand of cubic meters, which in about $ 180 billion in total.
Uzbek gas supply to Russia has started in may 2003. In 2005 purchase amount constituted about 8 billion cubic meters. In the course of talks, "Gasprom" and Uzbek company "Uzbekneftegas" has fixed the tariff for Turkmen gas transit on Uzbekistan territory at the level of $1,1/athousand cubic meter/ 100 km.
As it was earlier informed, the talks on purchase of three main Uzbek gas-field by "Gasprom" were on agenda of Miller`s visit to Tashkent. However, no details of it has not been revealed.
