"Parallel" Russian cinema goes to Rotterdam
Gala-retrospective show of art-house association "CINE PHANTOM" pictures made in 1990s-2000s is to be presented at the International cinema festival in Rotterdam.
New Russian cinema is to be represented by films by Aleksei Balabanov, Alexander Sokurov and other directors. "CINE PHANTOM" is to show three parts of video-novell by Boris Yukhanov "Insane prince", six pictures by brothers Aleinikovs, including famous "Tractor drivers-2", and a full-length film by Andrey Silvestrov and Pavel Lobazov "Volga-Volga" (a remake of the movie by Grigory Alexadrov with Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe instead of Lyubov Orlova).
Rotterdam is also to see "Sun" by Sokurov, "Dust" by Sergei Loban, "Blind man`s buff" by Aleksei Balabanov, "Manga" by Peter Khazizov, "Vocal parallels" by Rustam Khamdamov, a documentary "Blockade" by Sergei Loznitsa.
35th International Film Festival in Rotterdam has opened on January 25 and is to last until February 5. Totally 350 films are to be on the program, 35 of them are world premieres, 19 are international premieres and 20 are European premieres.
