Psychiatrists: responsibility of synagogue assaulter is under doubt
Experts of Serbsky Institute of forensic psychiatry, where assaulter at synagogue parishioners Alexander Koptsev was examined, didn`t agree with statement of Moscow prosecutor about mental health of the criminal.
Yesterday prosecutor Anatoly Zuev has announced that policemen managed to disclose the crime, establish responsibility of Alexander Koptsev and bring the matter into court for 3 weeks.
As experts of institute say, doctors need to observe patient for at least 21 day in stationary conditions in order to conclude his responsibility.
"I promised Muscovites to investigate case about attack at synagogue at earliest possible date and kept my word", - announced Moscow prosecutor Anatoly Zuev during press-conference. - Investigation is finished. I confirmed indictment and it will be brought into court on Thursday".
Alexander Koptsev is accused of "murderous assault of 2 and more people by motives of national, religious hatred and hostility" and of "perpetration of actions aimed at disparagement with use of violence". For these crimes the accused can be sentenced to life imprisonment.
Nevertheless, doctors have registered typical schizoid changes in Koptsev`s personality. As leading worker of the Institute explained, the accused can not be declared neither sick nor absolute healthy person. There was not enough time for precise estimate of the criminal mental state.
Lawyer of Koptsev considers that Moscow Office of Prosecutor has hurried to make decision on the case.
