Dmitriy Dorofeev chosen as standard-bearer of Russian team on Games -2006
The flag of the Russian Olympic team on the opening ceremony of the XX Winter Olympic Games in Torino will carry the skater Dmitriy Dorofeev. Gennadiy Shvets, the representative on the connection with community of the Russian Olympic committee, reported about it.
On the World Championship on the sprint all-round which was held on January 2006 in Dutch Herenven Dorofeev won the silver reward. At the same time Russian skater won one of the rounds to 500 meters.
As one of the candidates for the role of standard-bearer was Svetlana Zhurova who became the champion on the same world superiority. Also the bobber Aleksandr Zubkov who won the World Cup this season could head the procession of Russian team on the opening ceremony.
Let us recall, that in 2002 at the Olympiad in Salt Lake City the standard-bearer of Russian team was biathlete Pavel Rostovtsev.
