Sergeant beating soldiers in Habarovsk unit detained
Serviceman accused of humiliating treatment of draftees is detained in Habarovsk. This was informed by Far East Office of Military Prosecutor.
Arrested Dmitriy Nagaitsev has admitted beating of soldier Evgeniy Koblov for poor duty performance.
Guilty of crime were arrested after new examination of Saratov draftee`s case by Office of Military Prosecutor. Criminal proceedings were instituted according to article 286 "Abuse of authority with use of violence". Earlier investigation was made according to article about unauthorized leaving of military unit. The case was revised after disclosing of new facts during investigation and publicity of analogous case with soldier Andrei Sychev from Chelyabinsk tank school.
After humiliating treatment by servicemen in May of last year, Evgeniy Koblov deserted from military unit and spent 3 weeks in basement of an apartment house. Because of cold and beating his legs grew numb, he couldn`t leave the shelter and ate nothing for 23 days. Evgeniy was accidentally found by internal plumbers. He was so weak that couldn`t give testimony. He named the torturers later. In hospital Evgeniy Koblov was amputated both legs.
Article 286, part 3 imposes penalty from 3 to 10 years of imprisonment.
