Putin keeps eye on Olympiad and wishes Russian Olympians victory
Russian president Vladimir Putin keeps eye on Olympiad. This was informed by the head of Russian sport Vyacheslav Fetisov.
By Fetisov words, Russian president communicated with him by telephone. "The president watches Olympic Games and has congratulated Svetlana Zhurova and other sportsmen with successful performance", - said Fetisov during press-conference.
Svetlana Zhurova has won Olympic gold in speed skating for 500 meters.
Vladimir Putin said that "all state obligations to Olympians will be fulfilled".
There is information that every Olympic champion will be paid $50 thousands from government and $50 thousands from Olympic government. Moreover, sportsmen will be awarded by sport unions and personal sponsors. Therefore, an Olympic champion will get about $200 thousands for victory not taking such presents as apartment, automobile into consideration.
The winner of Olympic gold Svetlana Zhurova informed that Russian president congratulated her with victory.
"Unfortunately I couldn`t talk with him personally because I had doping test at the moment. But after finish I talked with president`s assistant, who sent greetings from Vladimr Putin", - said Zhurova.
Answering the question what Zhurova would ask from the President, the speed skater said: "I would ask assistance in construction of St. Petersburg speed skating rink".
Zhurova has emphasized that there are many good skaters in Petersburg, who are forced to search place for trainings because there is no skating rink of high class in St. Petersburg.
