Russian figure-skater Evgeni Plushenko wins "Olympic" gold
Russian figure-skater Evgeni Plushenko became the Olympic champion in Torino.
The leader of men single skating has confirmed the status getting highest score for free performance - 167.67 points. Together with 90.66 points for short program the total score of Plushenko is 258.33 points, which is his new personal record.
It is the second Olympic medal for Plushenko. 4 years ago he won a "silver" medal in Salt Lake City losing only to another Russian sportsman Aleksey Yagudin.
"My dream has come true!, - said radiant with joy Evgeni demonstrating his gold medal. - I worked hard for this award. My parents, friends, coach, choreographer David Avdysh have supported me during 4-year long way from Salt Lake City to Torino. Last year my wife Masha helped me a lot".
The second place took Swiss Stephan Lambiel (231.21 points). Canadian Jeffrey Buttle won "bronze" (227.59).
Another Russian figure-skater Ilya Klimkin has seriously improved position with results of free skating. He moved from 18-th place to 11-th with score of 191.8 points.
Therefore, Russian figure-skaters have won 2 gold Olympic medals in competitions of sport pairs and single men. Competitions of dance pairs and women are still ahead.
