Firing at car by peace-maker in South Osetia recognized lawful
Russian peace-maker in South Osetia was forced to open fire at automobile driver, who almost ran over police guard in Megvrekisi settlement.
Actions of serviceman are recognized lawful.
Deputy commander of Combined forces on peace maintenance in zone of Osetin-Georgian conflict, colonel Nikoli Baranov reported that the incident took place on 18:40 yesterday.
"A lorry driver was driving at high speed despite of speed limitation road sign and commands of peace-keeping police guard. He didn`t stop and almost knocked down the police guard. A serviceman of Russian peace-keeping forces made 3 preventive shots to the air. Automobile was detained at Georgian police post, 500 meters from Gory town", - said Baranov.
"During investigation it was found out that serviceman used weapon lawfully. The driver was in state of alcohol intoxication. But Georgian side didn`t allow representatives of Russian peace-makers to participate in investigation and refused to present passport information of the driver", - noted Baranov,
It was found out that local citizen of Achabeti town was driving the car.
"Investigation of such incidents without participation of peace-making forces is not acceptable because it gives ground for provocations and aggravation of situation in conflict zone", - emphasized Baranov.
