Ultimate Arm from Tula wins Oscar
One of most prestige Hollywood premiums - "Technical Oscar" - will be awarded today to Vasily Orlov from Russian city Tula. Equipment of Russian masters, which allows shooting special effects with high quality, was estimated by American cinematography at its true worth.
American producers needed equipment for shooting of automobile pursuits at speed over 100 km/h. Russian Vasily Orlov hired group of talented constructors, machinists of high qualification. The result of laborious work became a special hoisting crane, which is attached to automobile`s roof and gives an opportunity to shoot bright accurate images even driving at high speed over swamps and snow.
"Batman", "Superman is back", "Big races", all latest commercials of American automobiles, pursuits in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" film were shot by Tula crane.
Cinema award for scientific-technical work has been established in 1931. By results of 2005 certificate of academy for technical achievements was presented to Lev Evstratov, George Peters and Vasily Orlov for development of crane system "Ultimate Arm" for camera shooting.
