Figure skating: Navka and Kostomarov leading after original programme
Ice dancers Tatyana Navka and Roman Kostomarov are leading after the original programme. Russian duet was rewarded by judges with a score of 37.07. Together with a score of 38,20 for previous compulsory programme, they took the first place with a total of 99.27.
Leading after compulsory dance the Italian couple Barbara Fusar Poli and Maurizio Margaglio was castigated by a wanton fall in the last lift, just a few seconds from the end of the programme and dropped to seventh place with their 51.73, 90.51 in total.
From sixth to second place skipped the oh so young Americans Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto (97.89). Third came the Ukrainians Elena Grushina and Ruslan Goncharov (96.68)
Two other Russian ice duets cannot pretend for medals. Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shablin took 10th place (85,73), and Yana Khohlova and Sergei Novitsky took 13th place (78,05)
The rendezvous is now for Monday night, February 20, for the final heat of the free dance.
